Thirty years of observation of people attempting to restructure their daily lives following aphasia's onset reveals a small fraction who have not only made this transition well but claim discovery of certain life facets or domains that exceed pre-injury presence, function, or status. This article singles out commonalities among those successful restorers of daily life in aphasia's wake and attempts to apply their lessons to our own therapeutic efforts to aid the larger percentage of individuals whose outcomes are less positive or desirable.
